SCARCE LIMITED EDITION, #474 of 500 copies; eighteen volumes in this set including the 3 Christmas volumes, all volumes illustrated. Original publisher's blue boards hardbacks with paper title label on spines; clean, bright, unmarked pages with deckled edges and gold gilt top edges. Circa 1895 (Publisher Samuel Edson Cassino, 1856-1937, a naturalist who married into a prominent North Shore family, turned to publishing in Boston and left the Salem branch of business to his daughter Margherita in c. 1899 (she married a Mr. Osborne ). Cassino published the same pages in this edition - same title page, text, and illustrations - as in his 1890 edition, moroccan bound set which also had a small printing of 500. The only difference between these two editions is the binding. This edition here is seemingly the next edition, anytime after 1890, also of only 500 copies. Additional photos upon (email) request.
