Anatole France (Francois-Anatole Thibault, 1844-1924) was a French poet, journalist and best-selling novelist. He was considered the ideal French man of letters and, in 1921, won the Nobel Prize in Literature. France wrote 25 novels; The Crime of Sylvestre Bonnard (1881) was his second.
OF NOTE: It was originally the property of the 97th Hospital of the American Red Cross--that is stamped on the title page.
It is about a brilliant historian and linguist who kidnaps a young woman to save her from abuse.
This copy was published by the Modern Library (Random House) in 1932. It is navy blue boards with a black and gold design on the cover and spine. It has a minimal amount of shelf wear and the pages are clean, bright and unmarked.OF NOTE: It was originally the property of the 97th Hospital of the American Red Cross--that is stamped on the title page.
