Dark green cloth with gilt lettering and elaborate pictorial giltstamping. xxx, 297pp, (2pp ads). All edges gilt. Tissue-guarded frontispiece, numerous small illustrations. Very good. Quite bright and tight and attractive first of this illustrated edition of Mrs. Gaskell's celebrated 1853 novel, the only flaw being a couple of small edge chips at head of spine -- else internally superb and fine.
