Sobre este item
Kendal & London: Thomas B Hudson & Longman and Co. and Whittaker and Co., 1859. Book. Poor. Hardcover. 5th or later Edition. 1859 FIFTH EDITION. Original textured brown cloth with gilt lettering front and spine, blind lettering rear, debossed decorations front and rear. There is a 1cm ink spot on the front cover. The spine backstrip is detached, chipped at the ends, and broken horizontally about 4cm from the top. There is chipping along the outside edge with loss to the first two blank pages, smaller chipping to outside edge of frontis plate and title page. Front inside hinge and a couple of other pages have been taped at gutter (old clear paper tape, not cello tape). No writing or marks on pages. Binding is cracked at page 101 with the gathering of pages 87 through 100 being loose as a unit. Collated complete for all plates. The folding map at the rear has clear paper tape repairs along folds (and a short old cello tape repair along one crease that has caused dark yellowing). The map is split free from the pastedown (where a panel of it has been mounted to the pastedown) along one fold, and is now loose. This book is complete with all pages, plates and maps. Good candidate for restoration. The publisher's note at the beginning indicate that this edition has been embellished with new illustration plates. These are all in nice, clean condition. PHOTOS ARE OF ACTUAL BOOK BEING OFFERED..
