Sobre este item
London : for C. Elliot & T. Kay; Ogilvie & Spears, etc. 1789. A pleasant eighteenth-century edition of Young's most celebrated work - the nine nights of poetic meditation originally published between 1742 and 1745. The much reprinted original source of "Procrastination is the thief of time", etc. - a work regarded by Boswell as "the grandest and richest poetry that human genius has ever produced". Post 12mo (178 x 103mm). x,290pp. Contemporary full calf, now neatly rebacked in morocco; red label; fresh endpapers; a few very minor marks and small creases, but a very good copy. Manuscript inscriptions trace the copy's ownership passing to Jane from Lucy Chalmers in 1810, and to Lucy Ellen Mayne from her mother in 1885.
