Sobre este item

Dublin: Printed by J. Potts, 1770. First Dublin edition, title-page states "Sixth Edition". The first appearance in Ireland of the story of Cinderella in English, entitled "The Story of Finetta, the Cinder Girl." Two octavo volumes of three. Although there is a third volume called for it is rare and the final page of volume II states "Finis." Two octavo volumes (6 1/4 x 3 5/8 inches; 160 x 95 mm). 288;, 276 pp. Without final blank in volume II. We could only find one copy of this at auction in the past 50 years and only three in libraries. Of the three copies in libraries, two of them lack the 3rd volume.

Full contemporary calf. Both volumes with green and red morocco spine labels, lettered in gilt. Board edges stamped in blind. Previous owner's bookplate and old ink signature on front pastedown of each volume. Minor dampstaining to front blanks of volume I. Some general scuffing and rubbing to boards. Some light toning, mainly to endpapers. Overall very good.
