3 quarto and 3 octavo hardcover volumes, 3/4 blue cloth with marbled boards and gilt red leather spine labels, each front paste-down with decorative bookplate and handstamp of Ingvald Lieberkind and his signature on 1 front flyleaf and on a few offprint covers, containing 71 offprints, many with signed inscriptions on covers. 72 plates (some lithographed, some folding, colored or tinted) and many text figures. PROVENANCE: INGVALD KRISTIAN LIEBERKIND (1897-1972) was a Danis zoologist and marine biologist who edited the Asteride material from the Ingolf Expedition (1895-1896) as well as from the German Valdivia Expedition (1898-1899). He was also a well-known popularizer of science on Danish radio and television. His major work, The World of Animals, a popular science production of The Life of Animals in 12 volumes (1937-1942) reached a considerable circulation and came in several edited editions, most recently in 10 volumes 1961-1972.
