NY: Ballantine Books, 1953. 1st Edition . Soft cover. Very Good. First paperback printing, issued simultaneously with the hardcover. Signed by Clarke in his customary blue ballpoint pen on the title page. Mass-market paperback (7 x 4.25 in.), 214pp. Very good condition, with no serious structural issues, but with the following minor cosmetic imperfections (all visible in photos): light crease to front hinge, several soft creases to covers, wear and surface flaking along rear hinge. Textblock somewhat toned. Spine slightly scalloped with a couple of very light creases; binding remains strong and secure. A reasonably presentable copy of this first issue version of Clarke's fifth novel, one of the landmark works of modern science fiction. Covert art by Richard Powers.
Sinopse
Arthur C. Clarke is considered to be the greatest science fiction writer of all time. He is an international treasure in many other ways: An article written by him in 1945 led to the invention of satellite technology. All books ship free with tracking to domestic addresses via USPS Media Mail. In most cases, delivery takes place within a three to ten day window, although the vicissitudes of USPS may apply. Unless otherwise requested, expedited domestic purchases ship via USPS Priority Mail; overseas orders via USPS First Class International. Heavy or oversized books may incur additional shipping charges, as may books shipped to overseas destinations. Any additional charges required will be communicated promptly.
We take safe shipping very seriously; all of our books are packaged in new cardboard boxes amply cushioned with biodegradable packing peanuts. Pamphlets and other flat materials items are ocassionally shipped in bubble-mailers with internal cardboard supports. All books with dust jackets are fitted with brand new archival protectors prior to shipping.
