Coontz was a collector of science fiction and fantasy books, this is a newly discovered book signed by ERB to Captain Coontz when he was a young boy during the early years of WWII. The U.S.S. Signed ERB first editions are scarce and this book remained virtually unknown to the public at the Coontz estate for over three-quarters of a century. Includes laid in signed typed letter (TLS) dated 1923 from Admiral Robert E. Coontz to Marion C. Deane, a well known autograph collector. Carson of Venus is considered the finest of Burroughs' Venus novels. Heins V3.1. First appearance in pulp fiction magazine Argosy Weekly in January, 1938. Cover art on jacket by John Coleman Burroughs with interior art illustrated with six interior drawings including frontispiece. Not a facsimile dust jacket, not a mechanical auto-pen signature, not ex-library and not remainder marked.
