Sobre este item

Alexandria, Virginia:: Time Life Books, 1982. A beautiful copy. Bright, clean, square, and tight. No corner bumps. No owner's name or bookplate. No remainder mark. Fresh and crisp, apparently never read. Handsomely bound in full, brown leather that is gilt stamped, and embossed with a western motif/longhorn design. The binding on this copy is GENUINE LEATHER, superior to the cheaper leatherette (imitation leather) found on later copies. Although at first glance, leatherette can look a lot like leather, it does not age as gracefully in the long run. Laid-in is the publisher's introductory letter, which says in part: "This leather-bound volume..." [The reference to leather was removed later for the leatherette copies]. A volume in the Classics of the Old West series. Illustrated. Howes S1068 [Final Edition S1075]. Subtitle: "Containing an interesting account of the massacre of the Oatman family, by the Apache Indians, in 1851; the narrow escape of Lorenzo D. Oatman; the capture of Olive A. and Mary A. Oatman; the death, by starvation, of the latter; the five years' suffering and captivity of Olive A. Oatman; also, her singular recapture in 1856; as given by Lorenzo D. and Olive A. Oatman, the only surviving members of the family, to the author.". Reprint of 3rd enlarged edition of 1858.. Hard Cover. Fine condition./No Dust Jacket, as issued.. 8vo. 292pp. .

Sobre About Books

About Books (Genny and Michael Winne, proprietors, formerly of Parsippany, New Jersey) has been selling rare and OP books since 1985. Besides book fairs and mail-order catalogues, long-time collectors and dealers will remember our lengthy For Sale ads in the Antiquarian Bookman and similar magazines. Our inventory of over 40,000 volumes is especially strong in the specialties listed, but contains fine books in a variety of other fields as well. Because most of our books are stored in protective boxes, rather than on shelves, they cannot be viewed as a whole. If you wish to visit us to examine specific titles, please provide 24 hours notice and we will make them available for your inspection. Phone calls to (702) 750-2722 are welcome, but please, only between the hours of 8am and 10pm (west coast time).
