Sobre este item

Princeton: Princeton University Press, 1982. First edition. Cloth. Near Fine/Near Fine. 9.5" by 6.5". Not Stated. The first edition of this interesting work, examining representations of the mythological figures Cacus and Marsyas in classical art. The first edition of this work in the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original unclipped dust wrapper.Illustrated with thirty illustrations to the rear of the volume. Collated, complete. In this scholarly work, Small uses evidence from the Roman forum, Late Roman Republic and Greek Imperial coins, as well as the Palantine and Aventine, to show the connection between Cacus and Marsyas. She shows how Etruscans adapted art, such as Greek and South Italian vase paintings, to represent their own mythology. The author Jocelyn Penny Small has written many works on classical art and antiquities. In the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, cloth is very smart. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean, with the occasional spot to the end papers and fore edge. Dust wrapper remains bright and generally smart, with the odd spot and a little chipping to the tail of the spine of the wrap. Near Fine
