Octavo (7 x 8.5 inches). French matted in Ivory rag with single gilt line decoration, sized to 12 x 14 inches and suitable for framing. Established in 1825, The Botanic Garden was written and edited by Benjamin Maund, Fellow of the Linnaean Society and was printed at his own Bromsgrove Press in Worcestershire. This delightful four-to-a-page format of delicately engraved flowers, many of which were cultivated in the Royal Gardens, are included in the collections of Victoria and Albert Museum listed as the finest botanical miniatures produced. Some of the finest British botanical artists of the early 19th Century contributed to the work. Along with Edwin D. Smith, the artists were primarily women; Mrs. Withers, Mrs. Edward Bury, and Miss S. Maund. French matted in Ivory rag with single gilt line decoration, sized to 12 x 14 inches and suitable for framing.
