Octavo. xi (i), 516 (24)pp. Original green, pebbled cloth, intricately decorated in gilt with reverse green lettering on cover and spine. Gilt edges. Yellow endpapers. All pages with black borders. Illustrated initials and endpieces. "We have the honour to submit to the public a "Book of the Thames," from its Rise to its Fall: hopeful that our reader may share with us the enjoyment we have so long, and so often, derived from the "King of Island Rivers!" We have reprinted it from the Art-Journal, availing ourselves of suggestions, from time to time received, enabling us to correct mistakes, generally to revise it, and to make such additions (neither few nor important) as our own augmented experience, and the advise of competent friends and correspondents, have naturally induced." (Introduction). The text is illustrated throughout with copperplate engravings. Twenty-four pages with publisher's advertisements. Light wear along edges of binding. Small publisher's sticker on inside back cover.
