Blood of my Blood enjoyed only a brief life at its inception-written, submitted for publication, and rejected all within the span of a year. Mrs. Rawlings apparently never offered the manuscript for publication again. At some point the manuscript passed into the hands of her friend Julia Scribner, and it was not until 1988 long after Julia's death, that the work again saw the light of day. Why was this book-the first of Rawling's career-lost for so long? That is another story, here is the book, a must for all Rawlings fans.
Sinopse
Marjorie Rawlings wrote her autobiographical novel in 1928, the year she moved to Cross Creek, but no one knew it existed, not even her editor at Scribners. Blood of My Blood is an intimate portrait of Rawling's childhood and her tumultuous relationship with her mother Ida. This book has wonderful descriptions of the world around Washington D.C. in the early 1900's.
