Sobre este item

London: Effingham Wilson, 1835. Cloth. Very Good. 9.5" by 6". Not Stated. An early edition of this fascinating work on the corruption and financial abuses of the British government, published during times of electoral reform. An early edition of this important work, rebound in a cloth binding, with renewed end papers and with the original cloth laid down to the boards. Illustrated with two plates. Collated, complete. The revised and expanded edition of John Wade's investigation into the corruption and financial abuses of the British government, as well as the financial benefits and privileges given to the church, army and other groups. It was first published, and then re-issued in many editions, during the reform riots and electoral reform bills of the 1830s. With an 132 page appendix to the rear for this new edition: Appendix the the Black Book: An Exposition of the Principles and Practices of the Reform Ministry and Parliament: The Church and the Dissenters; Catastrophe of the House of Lords; and Prospects of Tory Misrule: with Tables of Ecclesiastical and Election Statistics, and Corrections of Former Editions of the Black Book. Sixth Edition, with the 'Crisis' and a Characteristic List of the Anti-Reform Government. Rebound in a cloth binding, with the original cloth laid down to the boards. Externally fairly smart, with light shelf wear to the boards, joints and extremities. Front hinge is strained but remains firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with a scattering of spots to the first and last few pages. Very Good
