Loosely inserted is a four-page signed authographed letter from Aplin, on his addressed paper to Joseph Whitaker [Joseph Whitaker, 1850 - 1932), English naturalist and ornithologist who lived for most of his life at Rainworth, in Nottinghamshire. He was a keen sportsman, botanist, fisherman and collected curios. He wrote "Notes on the Birds of Nottinghamshire", Walter Black. 1907]; other ephemera including an obituary also loosely inserted. Pp. vii, [1], 217, [1], hand-coloured frontispiece plate of an alpine chough by Seth Lister Mosley; folding colour map at rear. Publisher's blue cloth with gilt letter, very good, bright, a little light wear, lower front corner bumpede. Contents clean and tight, original black end papers, no inscriptions, no foxing. A very good copy with fine original letter..
