First Edition (1976) unstated, but implied: no subsequent printings noted, in accordance with Gordon & Cremonesi's customary practice. Very Good+ in Very Good DJ: The Book shows several flecks of faint foxing at the top edge of the text block and upper fore-edge; the outside edges have tanned somewhat as well, due to aging; a small, very superficial dampstain at the bottom edge of the text block at the heel of the backstrip (this does not affect the book or penetrate into the text pages at all; just a touch of shelving wear to the lower extremities; the binding is square and secure; the text is clean. Free of creased or dog-eared pages in the text. Free of any underlining, hi-lighting or marginalia or marks in the text. Free of ownership names, dates, addresses, notations, inscriptions, stamps, or labels. A handsome copy, structurally sound and tightly bound, showing mild wear and minor, unobtrusive cosmetic flaws. Clean,. Corners sharp. Close to 'As New'. The DJ shows moderate wear to the extremities, most apparent at the top edge of the rear panel; couple of short closed tears; mild rubbing; the price has not been clipped; mylar-protected. Clean, attractive, and intact, but shows a little wear. NOT a Remainder, Book-Club, or Ex-Library. 4to. (10.5 x 7.25 x 1.25 inches). 182 pages. Six color plates and sixteen pages of black & white photographs. Numerous duotone drawings and designs. Language: English. Weight: 24.5 ounces. Endpaper Maps. Hardback with DJ. The author is universally known in Britain and America as the Bird Man, born in England and spent part of his childhood in the house that Sir Peter Scott eventually made the headquarters of the Wildfowl Trust, he trained as an artist and is now one of the finest living painters of birds. He first settled in the Falkland Islands in 1959, devoting himself to the preservation of wildlife in an area where many species are in danger.
