Sobre este item

Chicago: Normandie House, 1950. cloth. Dos Passos, John. 8vo. cloth. 94, (2) pages. With an Introduction by John Dos Passos. First edition, limited to 345 numbered copies; this copy is out of series. A fine, unopened copy of this scarce bibliography.

American writer John Dos Passos (1896-1970) was known for creating nonlinear stories immersed in the roving lives of the characters; his "U.S.A" trilogy is his best-known work, and both his fiction and nonfiction have had major influence on subsequent literature and especially experimental writers such as Jean-Paul Sarte. This bibliography details Dos Passos' first editions, with information on the binding and first periodical appearances of his works, written by Chicago-based bookseller Jack Potter. Potter provides a thorough compilation of Dos Passos' works, with an introduction from Dos Passos himself; included also is the original invoice sent in 1950 (the year of publication) to the original owner of this volume, signed by Jack Potter on top of his printed name.

Full brown cloth, reproduced signature of John Dos Passos in gilt on the front board, gilt lettering on the spine, fore-edge uncut, title page in brown and black, most signatures unopened, "Addenda" page loosely laid in at the rear which caused off-setting from the glue on the opposite page. Fairfield and Bodoni types, Victorian laid paper,From the private reference library of Dorothy Sloan with a commemorative bookplate loosely inserted.

Sobre Oak Knoll Books/Oak Knoll Press

Oak Knoll Books was founded in 1976 by Bob Fleck, a chemical engineer by training, who let his hobby get the best of him. Somehow making oil refineries more efficient using mathematics and computers paled in comparison to the joy of handling books. Oak Knoll Press, the second part of the business, was established in 1978 as a logical extension of Oak Knoll Books. Oak Knoll Books is a thriving company that maintains an inventory of about 20,000 titles. Our main specialties are books about bibliography, book collecting, book design, book illustration, book selling, bookbinding, bookplates, children's books, Delaware books, fine press books, forgery, graphic arts, libraries, literary criticism, marbling, papermaking, printing history, publishing, typography & type specimens, and writing & calligraphy - plus books about the history of all of these fields.
