Sobre este item
[Washington, DC]: The Library of Congress, 1945. Hardcover. Small 4to. Black cloth, heavily blind-embossed. xvi, 617pp. Very good. Spine ever-so-slightly sunned -- almost a "Near fine." A superb, tight and handsome first edition of this essential reference -- PLUS this copy bears a choice autograph addition: The front flyleaf has been signed huge and bold in full in blue ink by William Treat Upton, who also adds "Washington / April, 1946." Upton (1870-1961) taught piano at Oberlin College (1893-1936), but is mainly remembered as the preeminent authority on 18th and 19th century secular music. Signed copies of this important bibliography are most uncommon. From the library of musicologist and conductor/director Paul Clinton Echols (1944-94).
