Sobre este item
NY: Rudolph Field, 1949. First. Hard Cover. Fine/Very Good. First printing. Hardcover, 327 pps. illustrated with photos. Foreword by Casey Stengel. Famed New York Daily News sportswriter Jimmy Powers provides stories of "the darlings and the hated" of baseball from the early days of John McGraw, Christy Mathewson and Ty Cobb through the era of Babe Ruth and into the then-modern-day stars such as Williams and Jackie Robinson. Anecdotes of the big names are here as well as tales of lesser known characters such as Babe Herman, Al Schacht, Bobo Newsom and Dazzy Vance. A tight copy, genearlly fine with just a trace of wear at the spine ends, prev. own. sig. front pastedown under the jacket flap. In clean dust jacket with the usual shallow chipping about the egdes.
