1816. Very Good. 1 leaf folded, dated Sept. 2, 1816, from John Johnson, Sussex Brigade Judge Advocate, addressed to Jacob S. Thomson, Brigade Paymaster, Marksborough [Marskboro, N.J.]. Thomson is asked to collect the $50 fine from Captain Thomas M. Armstrong. Jacob S. Thomson was the paymaster of the Sussex Brigade in New Jersey. On July 2, Captain Thomas M. Armstrong had been found guilty of disobedience of orders and unbecoming conduct to his superior officer. The judge, John Johnson (1764-1829), represented Sussex Co. in the New Jersey Assembly in 1804 and 1805, and was a judge of the Court of Common Pleas from 1816 to 1825. In Very Good Condition: folds; exterior lightly soiled; otherwise, clean and bright.
