A fifth edition copy. An Attempt to Discriminate the Styles of Architecture in England from the Conquest to the Reformation also has a sketch of the Grecian and Roman orders, with notices of numerous British edifices and some remarks on the architecture of a part of France.Thomas Rickman was an English architect and architectural antiquary. With twenty eight plates and in-text illustrations.Collated, complete.Previous owner pencil inscriptions to the front free endpaper for A. P. S. Duty. From the library of Doctor Malcolm Higgs, an important architectural historian who worked as an assistant architect to Stirling & Gowan, working on their particularly renowned Leicester University Engineering Laboratory. During his long career he taught at the University of Edinburgh School of Architecture, Canterbury School of Architecture, and University of Nottingham. Later in his life he was the Vice-President and Honorary Librarian of the Royal Institute of British Architects, and contributed and edited the "Journal of Architecture". In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, smart with some bumping to the head and tail of the spine, small split to the head of the spine. Previous owner pencil inscriptions to the front free endpaper. Frontispiece is loosening from the binding. The rest of the volume is firmly bound with generally bright pages with some scattered spots throughout. Good

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
