Endpapers and page edges are lightly tanned and foxed. Boards are a little rub worn with slight shelf wear to corners, spine and edges. Corners are a little bumped. Spine ends are a mildly crushed, with small splits and chips. Tanning to spine and edges. Boards are bowed. Book has a forward lean. Water marks to boards and spine.

Hardcover with dust jacket and inscribed and signed by the author on the front end page. The original price of $3.50 is still present on the front flap. DJ shows scuffing and soiling along with edge wear and tear. The reason for the low condition grade is because the underside of the jacket was neatly reinforced by three strips of masking tape. Over the decades the tape is become dry and brittle and the glue has darkened the outside of the jacket. Baby blue-gray cloth boards underneath are not affected by the tape and are clean. The only issues being there is fading along the edges and some light scuffing. The interior binding is good, no hinge issues. There is also small pen scribble on the jacket's front flap. No other handwriting or signatures noted. No bookplates, no library markings, no remainder marks etc. Stated first… Ler mais

It was used as a Harvard Prize Book and was presented by the Harvard Club of Miami to Clark Sutcliffe Reed by the Fort Lauderdale High School in May, 1950. Light edge and corner wear with some minor fading on the spine; aside from the presentation plate, no interior markings. William M. Mann was the fifth director of the National Zoo in Washington, DC. With his wife, he promoted the zoo and went on expeditions to collect live animals for display.
