Sobre este item

New York: Random House, 1965. First edition of Boorstin's Francis Parkman Prize-winning book. Octavo, original cloth. Presentation copy, inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper, "For Dr. Frank Rufords with the admiration and warm regards of Daniel J. Boorstin April 9, 1966." Near fine in a very good dust jacket. Jacket design by Anita Karl. American historian at the University of Chicago Daniel J. Boorstin wrote on a wide variety of topics in American and world history and was instrumental in the creation of the Center for the Book at the Library of Congress. Boorstin's writings emphasized the unity of the American people and especially praised inventors and entrepreneurs as central to the American success story. The Americans: The National Experience explores the years between the American Revolution and Civil War in detail from the beginnings of "vigilante justice" to the making of such "instant heroes" as Davy Crockett and George Washington.
