Colour illustrated paperback binding with black coloured titles panel and back strip. Starting the colonies of America, then through to modern times this is an overview of literature and literary tradition in America. The book includes poetry, new fiction, small biographies of writers and poets and bibliographies of artists, plus more. A previous owner has covered the book in the contact plastic, which has become slightly yellowed. Little creasing of the book corners with uniform age toning of the text block edges which also show some handling marks. Previous owners name to the top right-hand corner of the half title page, along with some stains.
