William Cobbett (1762-1835), the son of a peasant f armer, makes clear his attitude toward gardeners in the preface: "The inside of a labourer's house, his habits, his qualities as a workman, and almost his morality, may be judged from the appearance of his garden. If that be neglected, he is, nine times out of ten, a sluggard or a drunkard, or both." The American Gardener was later revised and published as The English Gardener (London, 1829). **PRICE JUST REDUCED! W130. Language: eng. Full Leather. Hardcover. Very Good.
