This was published on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Historic American Buildings Survey and the 25th anniversary of the Historic American Engineering Record. The arrangement of cities and towns within the checklist is alphabetical by county within each state. In the checklist, independent cities, those that are legally separate from an county, are identified by the word "(CITY)" following the city name. In the checklist, they are interfiled in the same alphabet as the counties. Introduction by Marilyn Ibach and Georgette R. Wilson. Expands upon the 1983 checklist, "Historic America." Marilyn Ibach was a research specialist in the Prints and Photographs Division at the Library of Congress. Georgette R. Wilson was the Collections Management Administrator HABS/HAER Catalogs the results of the Historic American Buildings Survey (HABS) of 1933 and the Historic American Engineering Record (HAER) of 1969.
