Octavo, [unpaginated]. Brown leather, gilt title on spine, illustration on cover. Multiple B&W illustrations. Housed in matching brown slipcase, near fine, minor wear at edges. Signed by Vice President Humphrey on the title page. Includes typed letter on Humphrey letterhead, not signed. Hubert H. Humphrey (1911-1978) served as Vice President of the United States from 1964 until 1968. He was the democratic nominee for President in the contentious 1968 Presidential Election, after President Johnson decided not to run and Robert F. Kennedy was killed in Los Angeles. He supported Johnson's war stance, which was unpopular with democratic voters. He lost the 1968 election to Richard Nixon and would return to the Senate in 1971.
