The author (1890-1946) was awarded the DSO and Military Cross for his exploits as a gunner in the First World War then became involved with Fascist organisations and Scottish Nationalism in the inter-war period. He was a prolific author of both military history and adventure novels and also worked as a freelance journalist.

Manual for the popular scooters, with specifications, diagnoses and instructions for dismantling and reassembly. Scarce.

Tinted lithograph gate-fold frontispiece of Crumlin Viaduct; numerous illustrations from engravings, of which 13 full-page. Re-cased with original two-tone bevelled inlaid; new endpapers. Gilt titles to spine and upper board and triple border in blind to boards with foliate motifs inside corners. All edges stained red. Lithograph lightly foxed,; ownership inscription to title page in ink, dated 1872, and a little minor marginal annotation to tables to rear. A Very Good copy. Handy guide to estimates for engineering works, particularly useful for those working abroad, based upon work carried out by the Viaduct Works situated beneath Crumlin Viaduct - the works were in fact erected for the purpose of building the viaduct and went on to manufacture materials for many other engineering projects. Scarce.

Scattered foxing, a little heavier after p. 240; minor annotation in pencil to p. [292]. A good solid copy. An early reprint of Goldsmith's fictitious "autobiography" of Dr Charles Primrose, a tale of family life, hard times and tragedy including a house fire, debts and imprisonment, which is one of the most enduringly popular and widely read of eighteenth century novels. Brief "Memoir of the Author" to fore.

Hereford; Printed & Sold by D. Walker, 1798., 1798. Hard Cover. FIRST THUS. Two volumes in one. Octavo, pp. [9], 6-224. With 4 wood engraved plates and 3 wood engraved vignettes from the workshop of Thomas Bewick. Contemporary full tree calf with gilt titles to maroon label and gilt fillets to spine. Joints cracked but holding well; minor loss at head of spine. Inscription in ink to ffep: "Josiah Wedgwood Jr / Septr 1804/ The gift of his uncle Thomas". David Walker commissioned Bewick to provide cuts for this edition following his similar arrangement for Goldsmith's "Poetical Works" in 1794; he eventually prevailed upon Bewick to supply them after a lengthy wait while Bewick worked on his own "Land Birds". As a consequence the plates are the work of apprentices and there was no further association between Walker and Bewick. The title-page vignette and one plate are hand-coloured.
