New Britain, CT: Art Press, 1966. First editions of 300 copies. 2 Volumes, each 2.5x2cm and [16]ff. Each contains a 2-page hand colored illustration by Massmann and is bound in stiff paper wrappers also with illustrated and hand colored by Massmann. Fine condition. The first two volumes, from an eventual four, of folklore anecdotes from miniature book publisher and collector, Robert E. Massmann.  These volumes, A Costly Binge, and The Blasphemous Old Prospector, are said to be from Rawhide Rawlins Rides Again by C.M. Russell.  A charming set, nicely illustrated.  .

No Binding. Very Good. This is a listing for a typed letter, signed by Robert R. McCammon. This is a single sheet, consisting of 2 or 3 very short paragraphs to editor Jeff Gelb, explaining why he (McCammon) can't participate in the anthologies, "Hot Blood," and "Shock Rock." Very good with some wear to the top and foredge.

Tacoma: Lowman & Hanford Co, 1915. Oblong 4to, 21x26cm, [24]pp. Sepio photographs with some captions, and an introduction. Brown paper wraps, illustrated in gilt, black, and white, with embossed lettering. Slight crease to front wrapper, some light edgewear, bit of soiling in the margins, else a near fine copy. Nice viewbook of Tacoma with photos printed by the Curt Teich and Company of Chicago. OCLC shows two similar publications with this title,  with this particular printing located in just 5 libraries.

Tacoma, W.T.: Allen C. Mason, 1888. First Edition. Oblong 16mo, 6 x 9," [50]pp., blue illustrated cloth with gilt and black stamped lettering, page edge stained red. Original promotional viewbook for the city of Tacoma, Washington Territory, incorporated some 13 years prior. This version published by Allen C. Mason, prominent real estate agent and loan broker in the city. Contains 24 full-page, photomechanically reproduced, tinted photographs of streetscapes, theaters, hotels, public buildings, mills, railroad stations, storefronts, landscapes, mountains, parks, colleges, schools, trains and residences, including that of Mr. Mason. Also includes promotional literature opposite each photograph. Very good with soiling to covers with corners and edges worn. Cloth at spine chipping. Hinges a little weak otherwise clean internally with former owner's name and date of 1889 to front pastedown. More uncommon than the Nuhn and Wheeler printing, worldcat locating 7 holdings. Smith 6585.

New York: Harcourt, Brace and Company, 1940. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Good/Good. Stated first edition of this second novel from the Washington state native author, Nancy Wilson Ross. From the library of Madeleine L'Engle, and bearing her married ownership signature (Hugh and Madeleine Franklin) on the front pastedown. Good condition with spine cocked and tape residue to boards where jacket was attached. There are a couple dates stamped on the rear endpaper, possibly an ex library copy. Jacket good with similar tape residue, some soiling, chipping at spine ends, and a few edge tears.

Dallas, TX: Southern Methodist University Press, 1989. 1st Edition. Soft cover. Near Fine. Stated first edition, paperback. Signed by editor, Clay Reynolds, on half title, as well as contributing editor, Don Graham, on title page. Near fine in wraps with a light crease to edge of back cover.

Seattle, WA: Northwest Center for Research Journalism, 1989. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. Signed first edition. Very good in like jacket with some wear to corners, spine ends, and a tear to top edge of front panel. Signed and dated in the year of publication on the half title page.

Philadelphia, PA: David McKay Company, 1930. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. 8vo, 141 pp. First U.S. edition with 12 additional black and white drawings as well as head and tails for each chapter not found in the Warne edition. Part of the 23 tales in the Peter Rabbit series, this story was written quite early on by Potter and initially rejected by Frederick Warne & Co. before it was published in 1930 by both Warne in the U.K. and David McKay in the U.S. Very good in blue cloth corn at corners and spine ends and pictorial pastedown and gilt lettering on spine remaining bright and unmarked. Jacket is very good with some loss at corners and spine ends. A bit of soiling and darkening else nicely preserved. A nice copy of this late work from Potter.

First edition. 4to, unpaginated, illustrated by Leo and Diane Dillon, inscribed by Paterson to owner on title page, ownership stamp and name on ffep, yellow cloth backed red paper boards with gold gilt stamped on front, fine jacket in mylar, minimal tape markings on boards, near fine. Beautifully preserved ex-classroom library copy of Paterson's retelling of this Japanese folktale. Paterson has won two Newbery awards. The illustrations by the Dillons imitate eighteenth century Japanese woodcuts. Previously, their illustrations won two Caldecott awards.

One of 100 numbered, and signed copies, interestingly this copy is numbered Q-1 on the limitation page, and signed by Salmonson, and the cover artist, Paul Sonju. Fine in fine jacket. Contains an original introduction by Stephen King.

Ashcroft, British Columbia: Ash Tree Press, 2004. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Fine/Fine. First thus of this collection originally published in 1911, and including a later work of Hunt's as well. Fine in fine jacket, and inscribed by the introducer and editor, John Pelan, on the title page. This is also a special copy as Pelan has indicated, "The first copy I've signed!" Limited to 500.

Scarce memoir from Mrs. Edna Turley Carpenter, a resident of the small town of Manchaca, near Austin in the Hill Country of central Texas. Signed and inscribed by both editors, as well as Mrs. Carpenter. Near fine in gray boards with former owner's sticker applied to ffep, near the inscriptions. Very good, price-clipped jacket with light wear to extremities.

London: T. Fisher Unwin, 1920. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Good. First UK edition, published a year after the American edition by Luce, though using the same sheets. "A collection of twelve fantastic stories, nearly all Oriental, or semi-Oriental." Near fine 1/4 brown cloth with brown paper covered boards showing minimal wear. Scarce jacket states second impression on front panel and is very good with chipping and loss at spine ends and along rear joint, light wear at corners, and some toning to spine.

London: Philip Allan, 1934. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Good. First edition, part of the Creeps series published by Philip Allan. Publishers ads in rear. Blue cloth boards show soiling and some white damp staining here and there. Corners bumped, and spine ends worn. Spine is cocked. Otherwise, clean internally.

Berkeley: Sather Gate Book Shop, 1925. Leaflet advertisement, 18x12cm, recto only. Nearly fine with instances of faint creasing and soiling. Interesting advertisement for a talk on mysticism and economics, and including a reading of The Mystical Interpretation of Christmas, by Rosicrucian, Mabel Morrin Kellogg at the iconic Sather Gate Book Shop in Berkeley.  Though the flyer is undated, we find the title it advertises listed as a Recent Rosicrucian Publication in the May 1921 issue of Rays from the Rose Cross.   We find Kellogg's name in various Bay Area papers as a "dramatic reader" as early as 1908.  She was also a member of the Temple of the People, a theosophical organization in Halcyon, CA, following the teachings of Madame Blavatsky. A wonderful piece of California occult ephemera.  .
