Oklahoma City: Oklahoma Historical Society. Good. 1936. Softcover. Published quarterly, "The Chronicles of Oklahoma" is the official journal of the Oklahoma Historical Society, and contains scholarly articles relating to Oklahoma history. This issue printed General Richard A. Sneed's "Reminiscences of an Indian Trader" for the first time (pp. 135-155)--it also appears to be the only published version of his account. Sneed was a Confederate General furing the Civil War who evemtially migrated to New Mexico where he was an Indian Agent and was also elected to state offices. Also included is an interesting essay on "The Union Pacific, Southern Branch" by James D. Morrison (pp. 173-188). New York: Heritage Press. Very Good with no dust jacket. 1939. Hardcover. Wonderful illustrations by Van Loon as well as reproductions of Rembrandt's work throughout. There is a book pocket on affixed to the front end paper; there are no other markings in the book or on the spine. The publisher's original slipcaset is worn, and the original pictorial slipcase name sticker as well as the slipcase end decoration have come off. By the mid-1930's 60% of US households had a radio--ten years later, new inventions were fascinating the public: bicylce radios, floor lamp radios, pocket receivers, suitcase record players, etc. This book contains many articles on many facets of building, servicing, and improving radios, all with photos and many diagrams, wiring diagrams, etc. for the homeowner and hobbyist. Origninal publishers rust red cloth covers with black and gilt spine and cover lettering and decorations (just a minor bit of shelf wear). One leaf is loose (p. 29-30) and one leaf has a vertical crease with a dog eared edge; there is a slight else this is a clean and unmarked copy. Printed in double columns; several b&w illustrations throughout. Anthony Trollope (1815-1882) was an English novelist who authored 47 novels as well as short stories and travel books; he is best known for "Barchester Towers." "Ralph the Heir" was written in his later life and first released as a 3 volume set; it was soon after published in one volume. This copy is the first American edition and is illustrated. Original brown cloth covers with gilt spine lettering. There are two stickers inside on the front paste down, both from the Masonic Pleadies Lodge No. 478, A.F. & A. M.
