Evidence of binding along left (inner) margin which is closely cropped. A very nice map, originally appearing in one of the "History Series" By Mary Elise Thalheimer, and early female American historian and hymn writer. John Clark Ridpath (1840-1900) was an American educator, historian and editor. He was a descendant (through his mother) of Samuel Matthews, a colonial governor of Virginia. In 1869, he was elected Professor of English Literature at Asbury College, where he served as faculty member and later vice-president, and was largely the originator of the measures by which that institution was placed under the patronage of Washington C. DePauw, from which it takes its current name (DePauw University). A very good copy of this scarce heavily illustrated period historical treatise on World War I.

A very good copy of this important novel.

Boumard Fils, also known as Boumard et Fils, was a family-run publisher of religious art, active at the beginning of the twentieth century. Boumard Fils was located in the Saint-Sulpice neighborhood of Paris, the center of the religious printing industry in France. The artwork on their earlier cards is exemplary of the Saint-Sulpician style. 

Salford: Printed by J. Roberts, 1873. 3/4 leather. Near Fine. 4 1/4 x 6 1/2 inches. 75 numbered pages. Pages bright and clean and free of marking or soiling. Bound in 3/4 black calf with marbled boards and matching marbled endpapers. Author, title and date in gilt lettering to spine. Corners and edges very lightly worn. Provenance: bookplate dated 1893 of Henry Blackwell and binder's stamp on ffep "Bound by Blackwell. A very nice copy of this scarce Welsh volume which was bound and owned by the noted New York bookbinder responsible for the bindings of several volumes belonging to John Augustin Daly, the Victorian American theatre manager, playright and bibliophile, which were sold at auction after his death.

Covers firmly attached. Else, covers lightly worn and soiled. A very interesting illustrated German cookbook.

A wonderfully bound matching set of the two volumes of this collection on Luther.

Light wear at spine and edges. Spine very slightly discolored. A nicely bound child's picture book with interesting depictions of Victorian immigrant life and Bible scenes.

Paris: Bossange Freres, 1824. 3/4 leather. Very Good +. 5 1/4 x 8 1/4 inches. 458 pages with foldout map of the Campaign of 1814. Pages clean with no staining, soiling or marking. Scattered light foxing. Title page bears the neat contemporary inscription in blue ink as follows: "[To] Baron von Neumann [From] Lady Georgiana Codrington." All page edges speckled rouge. Bound in 3/4 brown leather with marbled boards. Hinges starting, and boards with light wear. Fain was the secretary to Napoleon from 1806 to 1814, and his works are considered of primary historical importance - a "source de tout premier ordre pour l'histoire de l'Empire. This copy belonged to the family of the Duke of Wellington's aides-de-camp at the time of his Iberian campaign and the Battle of Waterloo. The giver of the book is Lady Georgiana Charlotte Anne Somerset (1817-1884), the second daughter of Major Henry Somerset, seventh Duke of Beaufort (1792-1853), and aide-de-camp to Sir Arthur Wellesley, the… Ler mais
