A finely bound American edition, produced by Mosher, of British Arabist and explorer Richard Francis Burton's (1821-1890) long poem, a pseudo- translation containing a distillation of Sufi thought. Composed in 1857, the work was not published until 1880, in a run likely consisting of no more than 200 copies. Though neglected upon release, The Kasidah became quite popular after Burton's death, going through many editions and long remaining in print. . 8vo.

The Keeley's were a family of actors and comic performers comprised of matriarch Mary Anne (1805-1899), her husband Robert (1793-1869), and their two children. They all played to critical and commercial success, appearing in a wide variety of stage shows from the farcical through the tragic at such esteemed establishments as Covent Garden and the Theatre Royal. . He was the inventor of numerous hydraulic heating, ventilating, and other appliances, and amongst the earliest of these inventions was the apparatus for the manufacture of mineral oil gas. He was also the originator of the modern type of sectional boiler for hot-water heating. He was one of the pioneers of the system of high-pressure gas-lighting, and in addition to his foundry in Arbroath the firm had works at Holloway, London, with offices at Farringdon Avenue. . Maria Elizabeth Budden (c.1780-1832), popular Regency children's author, who at her zenith wrote more than a book a year for her publisher John Harris. First printed in 1814, in her prefatory remarks Budden describes her work as 'a concise and simple elucidation of the several articles of daily use and daily consumption'.
