Good. Pamphlet. Brown pictorial staple-bound pamphlet; includes an unused, color postcard from the H F Bar Ranch. Likely published in 1922. Wraps are torn along spine, but still attached; wraps have light soiling; text block has light soiling; postcard has moderate soiling and heavy creasing. The H F Bar Ranch was a classic dude ranch providing all the hunting, fishing, riding and camping any eastern dude could want. Very Good. N.D.. Autograph Letter Signed (ALS). Circa 1900s. Dated Jan. 16, with no year. Letter has some soil, red penciled marks, and light fold wear. Signed handwritten letter from American writer Hamlin Garland (1860-1840) to a Mr. Markham, most likely poet Edwin Markham, who moved to New York in 1899. On stationery of the Players Club, Gramercy Park. "Dear Mr. Markham: I think you know of our "Progress and Poverty" Dinner; I wonder if you haven't a short poem which you could read to us? Moderate sunning to spine and moderate soiling to boards; previous owner's inscription on front endpaper (contemporary); text block has light toning; p. 223 has a 2 ½" tear at top edge, affecting content. Strahorn originally went west as a correspondent during the conflicts with the Sioux in 1876, but eventually ended up as one of the West's biggest publicists. Very Good. Mounted photograph depicting the hanging of Elliott Ellis Lyons on April 17th, 1903 in Eugene, Oregon. Photographer is unknown. Previous owner's name and address written in ink on verso, along with "1903 hanging of Elliott Ellis Lyons for the murder of Sheriff W. W. Withers April 17, 1903 Eugene, Oregon Lane County." Photographic print measures 4 ¼" x 3 ¼" without mount, 6 ½" x 5 ½" with mount. In very good condition with light chipping and soiling to mount; print has light wear to edges and light soiling. Lyons, a convicted thief and murderer, shot and killed Lane County Sheriff W. W. Withers while Withers was trying to apprehend him for horse theft. This took place February 5th, 1903; Lyons escaped after the shooting but was apprehended a few days later and convicted soon after that. The sculpture is signed and numbered by Harold Von Schmidt . The book has a red cloth and quarter leather binding; slipcase in matching cloth. Book is signed by Harold Von Schmidt and Walt Reed and numbered 88/104. Prospectus is laid in. Sculpture and slipcase are in fine condition; front board has minor soiling, else very good. This impressive book received the Western Heritage award for the best Western art book of 1972. It is filled with 220 illustrations, 50 in color; it not only traces the life story of Von Schmidt, but also traces the development of the American West in word and picture. Very Good. Broadside reads: "Harris' Cramp Cure - Dr. Harris' Cramp Cure for Every Ache - Dr. Harris' Cramp Cure for Every Pain - Dr. Harris' Cramp Cure 25 & 50 ¢ size." Broadside measures 6 ¾" x 41 ¾". Broadside is matted; the top and bottom edges of the broadside are mounted onto the foam board. Colors are bright and crisp; there are two vertical fold lines that span the width of the poster and a couple smaller fold lines. Overall very good. This eye-catching broadside has a great illustration (pictured three times on the broadside) of a boy clutching his stomach in pain. One of his shoes has fallen off and he has dropped a basket of produce. Even though he is in a pretty sorry state, all this boy needs to do is use some of Dr. Harris' Cramp Cure and he will be right as rain. Photograph measures 13 ¼" x 10 ½' and is mounted on grey cardboard which measures 17" x 13 ½". Image was taken in the mid-19th century. Photograph has moderate toning, light silvering and light soiling; mount is chipped on top, right corner, has a 1" tear at top, left corner and has moderate soiling and wear to all edges; blank on verso. This photograph provides a close look at 19th century city structure. A street sign on a lamppost is just visible in the left corner of the photograph, telling that it was taken on the corner of "Harrison Av." A few men and women are depicted standing outside the buildings, and two wagons are parked on the street. The streets are empty, suggesting that this photograph was taken early in the day. Set of 52 playing cards plus 1 instruction card housed in the inside sleeve of the original red card box (card box is missing the outside sleeve with the publisher's information). Cards are gilt on edges and have color image of a geyser on the front surrounded by a blue and gold border. The card box is cracked along one edge and has moderate rubbing. Cards have light soiling. Missing the joker card. Overall good. Published by F. Jay Haynes, official park photographer at Yellowstone with his photographs illustrating each card. Illustrations on the cards depict Old Faithful, the East Entrance to Golden Gate, the Lake Hotel, a Park stagecoach, the Paint Pots, the Excelsior Geyser and other points of interest in the Park. ; 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" .

The provenance of this photograph is the Edward S. Curtis Gallery in McCloud, California. Edward Curtis (1868-1952) was an acclaimed photographer and ethnologist who undertook one of the most ambitious anthropological projects ever attempted.
