The bindings are rubbed, especially at the hinges, and the headcaps of the spines have some brief chipping. There is a larger chip at the headcap of the spine to Volume I. A sound set with some light foxing to the text. Frontis pieces by George Cruikshank. Rare.

Illustrated with several full-page woodcut engravings; the first shows a "snapping, snarling wolf" breaking through the roof of a wood cabin.
