Humorous poster celebrating the retirement of prominent Texas librarian and bibliophile, Decherd Turner (1922-2002).  Turner served as director of the Bridwell Library at SMU in Dallas from 1950-1980 and then the Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center at UT in Austin until his retirement on June 1st, 1988.  Quite finely printed by Tom Taylor of Austin, likely in a very limited quantity.  .

Near fine book with foxing to top edge of page block and former owner's stamp to ffep. Jacket shows some wear and rubbing at head of spine, else fine.

[Pasadena]: Archetype Press, 2013. 2 prints, 22x14cm, each signed by Wagener and dated 12/2/13. Both in fine condition. Accompanied by a letterpress printed card from the Archetype Press. Richard Wagener, master print maker and wood engraver from California, produced a set of 31 images for the 2013 publication, The Sierra Nevada Suite, by the Book Club of California.  To celebrate the publication, the Archetype press at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena hosted a talk and printing party with Wagener on December 2nd of 2013.  These two prints, made directly from Wagener's blocks and signed, are in a smaller format than the final 4to publication.  They are from the same block, with one containing rust-colored lettering.  A nice set.

Number 98 of 107 copies. 4to, unpaginated, [35] folded sheets with text on rectos and tipped-in wood engravings by Kirk Martin, each signed, opposite the text. The binder's copy, inscribed by Walker to Bela Blau on the title page. Full golden/tan morocco with black spine labels. Few scuffs and spots to boards, rubbing along spine. Near fine with publisher's prospectus laid in. Unique association copy of this series of illustrated sonnets by Ardis M. Walker (1901-1991), California historian and poet.  Beautiful wood engravings by Western artist from California, Kirk Martin (1906-1991).  This from the library of Hungarian-born Los Angeles book binder, Béla Blau.  This publication was originally issued as loose sheets housed in a hand-bound slipcase by Blau, who here has done a one-off binding for his personal copy.  .

Harcourt Brace Jovanovich, 1970. 1st Edition. Soft cover. Very Good. Very scarce Advance Uncorrected Proofs. Long galleys bound in orange card stock with HBJ logo. Publisher's label attached to front cover with hand written publication date of August 5, 1970, and title "The 3rd Life of Grange Copeland," the "3rd" being changed to "third" before publication. Very good with minimal creasing to spine and light wear to corners. One page is loose, but laid in, and appears to have been detached for a reason - there looks to be a staple mark in the upper corner, and abnormal wear to the edge for a page in the middle of the book. Walker's debut novel.

Wonderful association copy of this book from Joseph Walker, the cinematographer who worked with Frank Capra on such films as It's A Wonderful Life, and many others. Inscribed by Walker and his wife Juanita, who was a writer and photographer at Warner Bros studios. Presentation copy inscribed to Barry and Beulah Shipman. Barry Shipman was a prolific screenwriter from the 30's-60's, and son of important Canadian actress, Nell Shipman (born Helen Foster-Barham), who is a prominent figure in this book. Barry is also mentioned in several places. His wife Beulah was an actress in her own wright, her screen name being Gwynne Shipman. Very good book in like jacket with some wear and chipping to edges of jacket, most of which has been neatly mended with tape on the underside. Spine is faded. On the inside back flap of the jacket under the author blurb, where Walker's films are listed, "Meet John Doe" has been blacked out, assumedly… Ler mais

Good copy with a small split at heel of front joint, heavy rubbing to edges of boards, and front hinge starting. Scarce paper jacket is present but poor with several large pieces missing from front panel and spine.
