First Edition. Hardcover issue. Signed by the author in his pen name; he was also known as the fine artist Albert William Du Aime. Advance Review Copy with publicity materials including bio of Mr. Wharton. As new in a fine dust jacket.

First U.S. edition A good copy in a good dust jacket. Signed by Wharton on the title page. There is a remainder mark on the bottom edge. The inside FEP and inside facing board has a large brown spot, which has also discolored the inside jacket flap. A less obtrusive mark is on the inside rear board covered by the rear jacket flap- the rear jacket flap also has slight discoloration along edge. With this purchase, I will also include a copy of First UK edition, which is fine with a fine dust jacket but is unsigned.

Author's first book which was made into a film directed by Alan Parker, who also directed "The Commitments". "Birdy" holds a 4 star Rotten Tomatoes rating. Book is signed by Wharton who came to Oregon in 1989 to lobby against rural field burning, after his daughter, her husband and 2 young daughters were killed in an accident in 1988 on Interstate 5 near Eugene, Oregon due to smoke from a field fire.

Tom Stafford, Cosmonaut Valeri Nikolayevich Kubasov and Cosmonaut Alexey Arkhipovich Leonov on the half title page during their reunion on the anniversary of their famous 1975 Apollo-Soyuz mission at the Boeing Museum of Flight. The Apollo Soyuz mission was the only flight into space made by Slayton.
