Grey cloth tape on hinges. Inside boards have a bookplate, owner's stamp, and binder's label. The wrapper has soiling and pieces up to an inch missing from the front and a few front pages. Two-color maps are on the insides of the wraps. Light soil on pages. Illustrated with many black and white photos. "An authentic account of the finding of the North Pole by Dr. Frederick A. Cook Com. Good. 19th century stereoview with photographer's imprint on mount. Stereoview measures 4" x 7". Titled in the negative. On front mount reads "Yellowstone National Park Series, Photographed by T. W. Ingersoll, St. Paul. Yellowstone National Park Views." Photographer's imprint on verso is quite lengthy, but starts with "Ingersoll's Yellowstone National Park, Alaska, North Pacific Coast & Western Views…" Mount has moderate toning, soiling and wear; photograph has moderate yellowing and soiling. Overall good. This excellent photograph depicts two men lounging in a horse-drawn carriage parked next to the "Devils Punch Bowl" in Yellowstone National Park. The Punch Bowl is an actively boiling spring with a raised geyserite rim and here makes for quite a unique image. No publication date, likely produced circa 1885 because the address matches the one shown on Ingersoll’s earliest stereoviews (yellowstonestereoviews.com & luminous-lint.com). By 1888, he had changed his address in St. Paul. Mount measures approximately 9.75 x 7 inches. Series title and publisher information is printed in blue below the image. Photo title and number is in the negative. Verso is blank. Mount has slight inward curvature; minor chipping and wear to edges. Image has a spot of soiling from a dirty fingerprint, otherwise crisp and clean. Overall, very good condition. Very Good. Cabinet card depicting Kiowa Chief Lone Wolf the Younger seated and dressed in a suit. Mount has "Irwin, Chickasha, Ind. Ter." Imprint gilt on recto and "Lone Wolf Chief of the Kiowa Indians" in manuscript on verso. Circa 1900. Mount measures 5 ¼" x 7 ¼". Print is in very good condition with light soiling on recto and verso of mount. William Edward Irwin was a photographer active in Indian Territory, Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona, as well as other places in the American West, circa 1893-1935. He opened a photography studio in Chickasha, Indian Territory (later Oklahoma) in 1893 but spent most of his career based out of Bisbee, Arizona. Chief Lone Wolf the Younger (1843 - 1923) was the adoptive son of Kiowa Chief Lone Wolf the Elder, and was a fierce warrior who survived the Battle of Washita and served as Chief of the Kiowa for 40 years. .

Adolph Isaacsen, known as "Sure Pop", provides a complete review of rat extermination and a natural history of the rat and the ferret. "Sure Pop" advertises that "houses are cleared of rats by ferrets," and promises complete extermination of bugs and other small rodents with different powders, pastes and traps. Includes "Map No. 1 Rio Colorado of the West" and "Map No. 2 Rio Colorado of the West" published in 1858. Missing the two scarce shaded geologic maps, as is common. Rebacked using original spine and boards. Some surface staining to boards, gilt rubbed. Edges rubbed, corners bumped. This first book to deal with the Colorado River predates Powell's exploration by 10 years. The Ives report is also one of the first descriptions of the Grand Canyon and of the area's native inhabitants. Many of the sketches have exaggerated views of dark and narrow canyons, reflecting how strange the landscape must have looked to these early explorers.
