A thorough treatment of the subject and its remedies, starting with the importation of disease by Christopher Columbus. Intended for the instruction of young surgeons "to make them worthy of the public trust." Fabre, originally from Provence, was Provost and Professor at the College Royale de Chirurgie. An authoritative text which went into many editions. In early calf, gilt. Quite worn to extremities; boards starting; library marks. Internally fine.

This edition illustrated by Dodd was first issued in 1808, and this copy is one of two editions that were issued in 1811. As is: some dampspotting, soil, and bumping to boards; hinges cracked, with book block nearly sperated from boards, and signatures loose; faintly musty, with occasional thumbing or foxing, but text and pictures are serviceable overall.

Small 4to., gilt decorated blue cloth, bevelled edges, photo illustrations. Slight rubbing and touch of soil, with light wear to extremes; lightly skewed and shaken, foxing to edges. Hinges tender, light occasional foxing; four leaves bear a 1/2" tear to the bottom edge. About very good, overall.

Family portrait lithograph on cover: Bouve. 10 pp. Folio. The Hutchinsons, from New Hampshire, were Abolitionist performers who gave antislavery concerts across the country, and at the White House for President Tyler in 1844. Frederick Douglass once said that the Hutchinson Family Singers' because they possessed such "fine talent for music could have secured for them wealth and fame, but, like Moses, they preferred to suffer affliction in the cause of justice and liberty." After emancipation, they turned their cause to women's suffrage. (Brodsky Lawrence, p. 304).

1964. (KENNEDY FAMILY). CHRISTMAS CARD FROM ROBERT AND ETHEL KENNEDY, circa 1963. The front of the card shows a flying angel blasting a trumpet; the design was reproduced by Hallmark Cards for the benefit of the National Cultural Center from an original painting by Jacqueline Kennedy, who was honorary co-chairman of the center. Inside the card is green with a 1/4 inch white border. Laid-in near the top-edge is a black and white photograph of the Kennedy children with their names printed (in red) below; below this are printed the sentiment "Hark The Herald Angels Sing | Glory To The New Born King" and the names of Robert and Ethel Kennedy. 10 by 6 7/8 inches, folded once at the center. Fine.

Moderate foxing to frontispieceand title page; ocasional light foxing and pencil underlining in the text. Written in the year 1676. Sir Richard was Ambassador from Charles II to the Court of Madrid in 1665.

Lists of wool and half-wool colors. Stripped colors are classified/grouped by the end result.

A few small closed tears at creases (one horizontal, two vertical). Front page has age toning to top left segment. Formerly the Union Agriculturalist and Western Prairie Farmer, now with the legend "Emery's Journal of Agriculture" in the front page banner's engraving (in which you can also see a steam tractor). Decorative text borders. Lead article is "Drainage for Wheat;" others include "Girls and Muscle,"(a short, positive article on a girls' rowing team at Englewood School New Jersey) "The Points of a Good Hog" and "Hired Help, Temperance &c." Also recipes, "Housekeeper's Diary." Scarce.

Children's rhymes and illustrations of children around the world in native dress/costumes.
