Pictorial biography of western artist Carl Oscar Borg (1879-1947) who, after emigrating from his native Sweden in 1899, settled in Los Angeles in 1903 where he painted scenery for films, had his first exhibition in 1905, and attracted the attention of Southern California's cultural lions, including Charles Lummis and Phoebe Apperson Hearst, who sponsored him for five years of European study. Versatile in many media, including oil painting, watercolor, dyepoint copper etching, and engraving, Borg excelled as a painter of cowboy genre subjects and Indian ceremonials.
