Externally worn, with most of spine covering missing (one portion remains but is detached), edges worn. Good joints/hinges, firm text block, clean pages with some light age-toning, no noted chips or tears, some dampstaining to the frontis illustrations and engraved titles, some dampstaining to the top margin of the last fifty leaves or so, private library sticker on front pastedown. Reading copy.. Hard Cover. Fair. 16mo - over 5¾" - 6¾" tall.

First, Second and Third Series. (London: Routledge: no date) Pictorial cloth (that is, hard covers) pp. 640. Frontispiece. Gift inscription dated 10-9-16 on recto of frontispiece and an ownership inscription on front fixed endpaper. Corners of boards worn; a very good copy.

Boston: Samuel H Parker, 1828. Hardcover. Good. Two volumes bound as one. Second series. 233pp & 223pp. respecitively. Steel engraving titled 'Duke of Monmouth' with original tissue protection on foxed frontispiece. Early owner's name penned at top of front free endpaper. Text clean. Binding and hinges etc robust. The binding is in half leather with blue marbled boards. The brown leather spine is rubbed and worn, but not cracked, at the extremities. The black leather label at top centre of spine (presumably identifying author and Waverley novels) is missing. The lower label embossed in gilt is intact and reads' 25 Tales of a grandfather'. The leather cover corners are rubbed and a bit bumped but respectable.

New York: William Burgess, 1828 This hard cover is in FAIR CONDITION, with front cover present but detached. Interior is foxed with blood smeared on the frontis of Bishops Dunkeld & Glasgow ( problems with the Church?) and owners signature dated 1929 on page top of chapter 1. BINDING TIGHT WITH ALL PAGES INTACT.
