Reprint of one of Schultz's Native-American themed stories for young readers, all of which have become hard to find in their first printings. James Willard Schultz (1859-1947), also known by his Blackfeet Indian name Apikuni, was a legendary figure in his native Montana, where he spent many years as a trapper, trader, and guide. Beginning later in life Schultz began his prolific literary career, publishing more than 40 full-length works and hundreds of articles, most based on his long acquaintance with the Blackfeet and Flathead tribes and life in the Rocky Mountain West. An early vintage printing of this tale of adventures with the Blackfeet Indians. Illustrated with black and white plates by George Varian. The only date is the copyright of 1913 but this printing is circa 1920.

James Willard Schultz, or Apikuni, (1859 – 1947) was an American author, explorer, Glacier National Park guide, fur trader and historian of the Blackfeet Indians. He operated a fur trading post at Carroll, Montana and lived among the Pikuni tribe during the period 1880-82. He was given the name Apikuni by the Pikuni chief, Running Crane. Apikuni in Blackfeet means "Spotted Robe." Schultz is most noted for his 37 books, most about Blackfoot life, and for his contributions to the naming of prominent features in Glacier National Park.
