"Linda" was Aslaug Lynneberg, a Danish-American lifelong friend to Rand, mentioned in letters to Isabel Paterson in the posthumous Letters of Ayn Rand, where a letter from Rand to "Linda" also appears. The book has writing (Printed in Denmark origin) at the bottom of the front flyleaf. The front flap of the jacket is present but separated. Signed "Ayn" only, from Ayn Rand's library, and inscribed by Rand to her actor-husband Frank O'Connor on August 6, 1934, a First Edition Presentation Copy of Noel Coward's Play Parade, which includes seven of Coward's plays; O'Connor had roles in a few. Rand's charming, affectionate inscription reads in full: "To my little Cubby -- one of his future parts --but not the only one! Ayn 8-6-34." ("Cubby" was Ayn's nickname for husband Frank.) Book has handwritten notes by O'Connor on front flyleaf and highlighting of the characters' names in 2 plays. Original publisher's cloth binding. Soiling and edgewear to spine and boards. Hinges cracked but holding. Very rare book inscribed by Rand to her husband, two years before she published We the Living. Inscribed to Rand's friend Rabwin who was the executive assistant to David Selznick on Gone With The Wind. Book near fine. Rabwin's name written on front free end paper and rear pastedown.Housed in a custom-made slipcase.

Very Good+ with slight lean to binding, spine slightly mottled, and light soiling to cloth; spine darkened. Top edge of rear board gnawed. Blue lettering quite crisp. Contents slightly musty and lightly foxes. A rather presentable copy of the author's first book, of which only 3,000 were printed.
