Revised and enlarged second edition with 832 pages and 804 illustrations - many line drawings - some photographic reproductions. The texblock remains very clean and tight but a good plus only copy due to the front hinge being tender and extensive splitting to the rear hinge though the rear board is not tender. Original publisher's burgundy cloth - gilt embossed to the spine and to the front board. Some rubbing with several slight nicks to the cloth at the head and tail of the spine - not very noticable. Also a 2.5cm split to the joint. A former owner's ink name (J. Barrington Pearson) to the front endpaper and an ink name and place to the front paste down - (J.W. Bound in the original red cloth. The spines have sunned as usual but sound text block and in generally sound condiiton. Volume one spine in need of attention. Based on Lavergne's L'Automobile sur route pub. in 1900 in French.. 1st 3 volume edition. Hardback. V.g.. large 8vo.
